Marikina, Smart to launch public WiFi

The Marikina City local government inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Smart Communications for its free citywide WiFi program on Friday, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

Marikina City Mayor Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro and representatives from Smart signed the MOA for the free WiFi system to be installed in all public areas such as schools, terminals, and government offices in the city.

The program aims to help address the connectivity issues in the blended learning of children and remote work for employees, as well as improve the public’s access to the city online services and information drives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
