Sotto donates blood
Pasig City launched a blood donation campaign to meet the demand in local hospitals.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto kicked off the recent bloodletting drive by donating his own blood to the effort.
Since the city started the drive in September, it has already collected 329 bags of blood.
The mayor noted that because of the coronavirus pandemic, few people are volunteering to donate blood.
This has affected the supply of this vital resource in blood banks.
“It is very painful to lose a loved one because of the lack of blood in blood banks,” Sotto said in a Facebook post.
“Because of this, we are stepping up our bloodletting drives,” he said.
Those interested in donating blood can proceed to Plaza Bonifacio Hall located near the Pasig Museum on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon.
Donors will be subjected to a free enhanced chemiluminescence immunoassay (ECLIA) antibody testing.
