ACT-CIS teams up with Quezon City to accelerate vaccination
The Quezon City government and a party-list group formed a partnership to accelerate the city’s vaccination drive, according to a report by Philippine News Agency.
Mayor Joy Belmonte and Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) chair Erwin Tulfo signed a memorandum of agreement that would have the party-list provide 10 doctors and 16 nurses to help in the city’s coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) inoculation program.
A total of 272,046 doses have been administered by the city government as of May 19.
Of the total, 204,394 have received their initial shots, while 67,652 have completed their two doses.
“Since last year, we have received a myriad of support from different organizations and have established the whole-of-city approach in addressing the Covid-19 pandemic. The doctors and nurses from ACT-CIS will greatly support four of our sites, and accommodate more QCitizens in the process,” Belmonte said after the signing ceremony at the City Hall.
Tulfo said ACT-CIS believes that the fight against the dreaded Covid-19 may best be done through cooperation.
He said it is the party-list’s contribution to the goal of the government to vaccinate everyone at the soonest possible time.
“We will not be able to defeat this virus if we will not support the government,” Tulfo said in Filipino.
Aside from regular vaccination hubs, Quezon City has a mega facility at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and a drive-through site in a mall in Fairview.
