QC Adopts Local Climate Change Action Plan

The Quezon City Council has passed a resolution adopting the Quezon City Local Climate Change Action Plan (QCLCCAP).

City Resolution 7086-2017 introduced by Councilor Elizabeth Delarmente complies with Republic Act 9729 also known as the Climate Change Act of 2009, section 14 of which states that LGUs shall be the frontline agencies in the formulation, planning and implementation of the climate change action plans in their areas, consistent with the provisions of the Local Government Code and the National Climate Change Action Plan.

The Quezon City Local Climate Change Action Plan provides the local government ways and strategies on how to survive and sustain development despite climate change.  

The action plan will be integrated to the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), Comprehensive Development Plan (CDP), and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Plan (DRRMP) of Quezon City.

“The Quezon City government desires for a climate resilient city, taking into consideration the different climate related phenomena, such as, extreme weather events, rising mean temperature, and the change in precipitation pattern greatly affects the seven Climate Change Priority Areas as prescribed in the National Climate Change Action Plan, to wit: food, security, water sufficiency, environment and ecological stability, human security, sustainable energy, climate-friendly industries and services, and capacity expansion,” the resolution read.
