Quezon City tightens health protocols

Quezon City is enforcing stricter health protocols in 142 barangays in the city due to the rising number of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) cases in the past two weeks, according to a report by Manila Bulletin.

“The city government will be enforcing a stricter monitoring of the implementation of health protocols with the help of QCPD led by PBGen Danilo Macerin. And to further encourage our 16 police stations in our enforcement, we will be initiating a non-cash, outputs-based incentive system for them,” said Mayor Joy Belmonte on Saturday, March 20.

Belmonte issued a memorandum forming an incentive system to recognize the policemen’s efforts in ensuring the implementation of health protocols in the city.

“We hope that through these incentive, maaasahan natin yung puspusang pagsisiguro na nasusunod ang health protocols ng lungsod para at least mabawasan ang transmission o hawaan ng covid sa ating mga komunidad (we can rely on the assurance that health protocols in the city are followed to at least reduce the transmission or infection of COVID in our communities),” the mayor added.

Police station commanders will intensify foot patrols in special lockdown areas, barangays with high COVID cases, basketball courts, transport terminals, footbridges, public transportations, public markets and commercial establishments, government facilities, and places of worship and areas where violations of health protocols are regularly observed.

Police stations are also required to submit a daily report with the total number of ordinance violation receipts (OVR) issued and must highlight the top three violations, barangays, and establishments where most violations occurred.

The reports will be analyzed by the Department of Public Order and Safety and will be forwarded to the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU).

The CESU will recommend where enforcement operations should be focused or re-focused to lessen the local transmission of the virus.

All violators will have to pay their respective penalty within seven days of issuance at the DPOS and City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) at QC Hall, or at satellite CTO offices in QC.

As of Saturday (March 20), the city has 4,819 active cases.
