QC Honors 15 Individuals and Institutions with 21st MLQ Gawad Parangal Awards
The Quezon City Government has recognized the outstanding contributions of fifteen individuals and institutions by awarding them the 21st Manuel Luis Quezon Gawad Parangal. These awardees have demonstrated excellence and dedication in various fields, including Justice and Law, Science and Technology, Social Work, Business and Entrepreneurship, and Environment and Sanitation.
The awarding ceremony took place at the PETA theater, where Mayor Joy Belmonte expressed her admiration for these exceptional individuals and organizations. She commended their active involvement in governance and their remarkable achievements that benefit the city, the country, and even the world.
Among this year's awardees are Professor Ernesto Serote, known as the "Guru of Philippine Local Planning," Dr. Emma Porio, a leader in climate and disaster resilience, and Dr. Laura T. David, a pioneer in ocean remote sensing.
Justice Maria Filomena D. Singh, Executive Judge Juvenal Noriega Bella, Dr. Aura C. Matias, Margarita Romero-Atayde, and various institutions such as Rex Education, Rural Rising PH, Mother Earth Foundation (MEF), Tanging Yaman Foundation Inc, and Human Nature have also been recognized for their significant contributions.
Posthumous citations were given to noteworthy individuals, including Arch. Federico Ilustre, Fernando Amorsolo, and Corazon Victoria "Dinky" Juliano-Soliman, all of whom made remarkable contributions to Philippine art, design, and community development.
Vice Mayor Gian Sotto praised the awardees for their unwavering commitment to community service, acknowledging the positive impact they have had on society.
These awardees were carefully selected by a committee composed of city department heads and past recipients, and they join a growing list of exemplary individuals and organizations recognized during QC's Foundation Anniversary celebrations since 2002.
