QC Celebrates 4th Anniversary of National Council Against Child Labor
Today, Quezon City commemorates the fourth year since the establishment of the National Council Against Child Labor. This council, comprised of various government agencies, is dedicated to eradicating child labor and exploitation across the country.
Mayor Joy Belmonte, alongside Department of Labor and Employment Usec. Benjo Santos Benavidez, Asec Dominique Rubio-Tutay, DOLE-NCR QC Dir. Martin Jequinto, National Economic and Development Authority Asec Reynaldo Cancio, Department of Social Welfare and Development SHIELD Against Child Labor National Focal Joseph Salavarria, and Public Employment Service Office QC Manager Mr. Rogelio Reyes, actively participated in the celebration.
Notable partners from the private sector, including Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chambers of Commerce & Industry, Inc. - Industrial Relation Committee Chairperson Mr. Stanley Sy, World Vision PH National Dir. Rommel Fuerte, and Project ACE Manager Ms. Anita Garcia, also joined the event.
In line with this, the city government prioritizes the fight against child labor, leading to the establishment of the Interagency Task Force for the Special Protection of Street Children and Child Laborers or Task Force Sampaguita.
